This is a really helpful text that sets evidence based practice in context and guides the student towrad becomming an evidence based practitioner rather then simply discuss evidence based pratice. My only critism of the book is the cost as I had hoped to be able to purcahse copies to distribute to Newly Qualified Social Workers in another area. The formalized concept was embraced by many, but also elicited some criticisms, including that evidence-based medicine relies too heavily on research. It was still being described by some as a “new approach” almost twenty years later (Selvaraj et al, ), suggesting that it has taken some time to become integrated into the medical.
